Moses Sarnue Gibson

Moses Gibson, a native of Flehla, Liberia, is a tenacious individual who refuses to take no for an answer. Born into extraordinary hardship and a life of deprivation, his path shifted when he was welcomed into the SOS Children’s Village in Monrovia, Liberia. Though not raised by his biological family, he found in this community the love, care, and opportunity that became the foundation for his resilience.

His early years were deeply shaped by the Liberian civil war, which stripped away opportunities for many youths. Yet, amid the turmoil, the Children’s Village offered Moses both refuge and a renewed sense of purpose. Determined to break free from the cycle of hardship, he poured his focus into his studies—knowing education would be his path to freedom.

A pivotal moment arrived in 1997 when he earned a scholarship to the prestigious SOS Hermann Gmeiner International College in Ghana. After five years of rigorous academic pursuit, he graduated from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and went on to attend Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In the spring of 2006, he graduated with a double major in Computer Science and Economics.

His journey into the tech world began as a Software Engineer in Wisconsin, where he confronted industry challenges head-on and recognized the vast potential for growth and success in the field. In 2007, he moved to California with the aim of pursuing a master’s program in Computer Science—an effort to solidify his foundation and immerse himself in a field that fueled his passion.

Over the next decade, Moses provided cutting-edge business solutions to a range of companies, collaborating as a valued peer with his colleagues and consistently proving his worth. By 2018, he transitioned into entrepreneurship, embracing the demands and freedom of running his own business. Through continuous learning and research, he remains grounded in a field that evolves by the day.

Today, Moses resides in Minneapolis with his spirited son, Gabriel. His eldest son, Gibson Jr., remains in Liberia, serving as an ever-present source of motivation. Both boys are his greatest pride and joy. For all the trials he has endured—both as an immigrant and a man of color—Moses Gibson exemplifies the American dream.

We all carry a thorn in our side. This book shares the powerful and deeply personal journey of how Moses faced his, with courage and transparency. Join him, as he lays it all bare—a story of pain, perseverance, and triumph.
